FeedMe: An RSS/Podcast Client for Windows Mobile

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Joe Chiu, who works on the Microsoft Surface team at Microsoft, has developed an RSS/podcast client for Windows Phones in his spare time.  The app is called FeedMe and it’s a lightweight and easy-to-use client for both Professional and Standard devices.  Not only does FeedMe let you syndicate podcasts, feeds, and photostreams, it can also help you find interesting feeds to subscribe to with its “Discover Feed” option.  With this, you can discover the feed from any external web site, for example.  You can also subscribe to keywords or searches.

Jott Feeds - something worth checking out!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I’ve been using Jott for some time now, and I find it incredibly handy and useful - I even have my Google Calendar set up with Jott Links, so I can Jott an appointment from my phone and it shows up on my Google Calendar (then, taking it a step further, I have GooSync, so my Google Calendar syncs with my Mogul!).

Enter Jott Feeds“Jott Feeds is a new and easy way to get updates from your favorite websites by listening to them on your mobile phone!  It is a simple service designed to make accessing the information you want as easy as a phone call.

Add any RSS feed to your Jott account, call Jott and have them read to you over your phone. Whether you are in the car or walking around town- you can now listen in to your trusted sources of news and other content without needing Internet access”.

I’ve only been playing with it since yesterday, but it’s very cool!  Jott offers numerous feeds for you to choose from (Yahoo! News, Local Weather, Tech Crunch, Mashable, Lifehacker and many more), or you can create your own feeds.  I created a feed for this blog as well as the forum (see the buttons over in the right-hand navigation panel) - it is pretty cool to hear the posts on the phone!

Check it out - Jott is free!

RSS feed added for the discussion forum!

Friday, June 6th, 2008

We are happy to announce that there is finally an RSS feed for the new version of the Discussion Forum!

As you can see over in the navigation panel on the right side of the page, the 5 most recent posts from the forum are posted there.  You can also add this feed to any RSS reader that you might use, such as Newsbreak, Spb Insight, or any of the multitude of readers available on the desktop PC!  This will allow readers to easily spot discussions that might be of interest.

This is in addition to the RSS link at the top of the page, which gives you the latest posts here on the main part of the site.  I highly recommend using both feeds, to stay on top of the latest with Windows Mobile Louisville!

Thanks to John Foland for being the fire under my butt to get this RSS feed up & running for the new forum!
