TouchFLO 3D vs. Spb Mobile Shell - why I think Spb got it right

I was a regular user of Spb Mobile Shell on my previous Windows Mobile devices (Mogul and 6600), but when I upgraded to a Sprint Touch Diamond, it had the built-in TouchFLO 3D user interface, so I stopped using Shell.  That was two months ago.

Over the course of that two months, I’ve spent a lot of time working with and customizing TF3D to my liking, and despite all my efforts, I felt that it was still lacking.  I’ll give an “A” for eye-candy, but I need more than that - I want substance - functionality that provides the information I need, when and where I need it.  That is why I decided to turn off TF3D, install Mobile Shell and see if I would be happier.  Know what? How far Windows Mobile devices have come - a blast from the past

I was cleaning out some stuff in my desk drawers and happened upon one of my old Compaq Pocket PC’s - a 3900 to be exact.  Pulling the unit out of the drawer, I was shocked at how enormous the thing was in my hand, particularly now that I am a Mogul owner! I remember the device feeling totally normal in my hand back in 2002, but as you can see from these comparison photos,  the Mogul is simply dwarfed by the 3900!

The devices have certainly come a long way!  So much smaller, and capable of so much more!  What will a Windows Mobile device look like in 2014, 6 more years from now?!!
