Searchme has released a beta version of their Searchme app for Windows Phones. The Searchme app provides an innovative mobile search experience with a fun, easy-to-use interface specially designed for touch screen handsets running on the Windows Mobile platform.

Since launching our mobile app a few months ago, we had an overwhelming response from people who love the idea of a richer, more visual search experience on their phones. We’re very excited that we’re now able to introduce millions of Windows Mobile users to this superior mobile search experience that delivers quick page loads and immediate access to relevant information,” said Randy Adams, Searchme Founder and CEO.

Key Features:

  • Supports native touchscreen interface, keyboard and pointing devices

  • Ability to see what each site looks like before opening a browser
  • Save time by reviewing site previews

The Searchme app for Windows Mobile is available in the Tools section of their site.

Facebook app from WM 6.5 extracted for use on existing devices!

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Hey you Facebook users! The wonderful folks over at PPC Geeks have been hard at work extracting all sorts of goodies from a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM, and a Facebook app is the latest booty.

You must install the CAB file to your device (not storage card) for it to work properly, and there are some minor buggy issues, but I just installed it and the app works great. It will work on WVGA, VGA and QVGA devices, including non-touchscreen devices.

Read more about it over at XDA Developers and get the CAB file there.

Google Mobile App gives you faster searching on your Windows Mobile device, with easy access to your favorite Google applications from the Today screen. There’s no need to wait for a browser to open to begin a search, and with search history available to reduce typing, you can get your search results with fewer clicks than before. For an even speedier experience, you can add the Google Mobile App to the start menu or configure a hardware key to provide easy access from within any application on your phone.

    Shorten long URL’s with ceSnipURL

    Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

kosertech is a developer who created a free, handy app called ceSnipURL for Windows Mobile devices.  It allows you to shorten a long URL using the Snipr service (similar to TinyURL).  This can be particularly handy when sending a URL to someone in a text message, since there’s character limitations.

I’m pleased to announce the 1.0 release of ceSnipURL.  I created this little utility to allow me to shorten URL’s to make them more friendly for use in Twitter and SMS messages or mobile email, preventing links from wrapping in email helps them maintain their clickability when sending them.  Using them in SMS saves you precious characters and allows more text space to describe the URL your sending.  You could use URL shortening services via the web but the clipboard interaction is more cumbersome than using a small utility.

    Features:

    • Auto places URL’s from clipboard into conversion window on application launch
    • After conversion, the snipped URL is placed on the clipboard for use in your sms/email or application of choice
    • Very simple one screen application
    • Built-in checking for update via the About screen

As always, its 100% free no strings attached.  Hit the download page to get the latest 1.0 release.
